History: Christian Dior, one of the most famous couturiers of the twentieth century, had one of the most interesting journeys into the fashion industry. Born in 1905 in France, he initially studied political science in school and then served in the military. He did not begin his design career until 1935, selling his sketches, and finally more than 10 years later established his own label. In 1955, Dior hired assistant Yves Saint Laurent, and then 2 years later died of a heart attack. During Dior's fashion reign, he not only redefined the changing silhouette of women's clothing, his outfits were also properly accessorized with complimenting jewelry and other accessories. He began designing jewelry in the late 1940's and focused on designs that were elegant and sophisticated.
